RED, WHITE, AND BLUE  MADNESS


Grades: PreK - 3rd
Equipment: 72 small balls (ping pong or golf balls), each 24
a different color(red, white and blue), three trays to hold 24
balls ea. painted with previously mentioned colors, and
one medium size basket or box.

Academic objective: Color recognition
PE objective: Cardiovascular endurance, Teamwork,
coordination

Required area: outdoor grassy, sandy or dirt surfaced area

ACTIVITY

Students line up in teams of 7-10 behind each colored
tray. All three sets of colored balls are placed in basket or
box. Instructor scatters all colored balls at once into area
(appropriate distance determined by age). Students run
into area of scattered balls and retrieve only one ball of
their team color (red, white or blue). All ball must be
returned, one at a time, to same colored trays. First team to
return all balls to tray wins.

VARIATIONS

Add two or three special balls (gold or silver). Bonus or
reward for team that finishes with all balls and special ball.
