NUMBER MADNESS

Grade Level:....3 - 7
Materials:
15 poster boards (8.5 x 11) with the numbers 1 - 15 written on them (one number per card);
also need 30 - 40 posterboards (4" x 10") with 3 different numbers (1 - 15) written upn them...i.e. "3 - 14 -7"

The larger posterboards are taped on the 4 walls of the gym...not in sequence. The other cards are placed face down in the center circle. The class is divided up into 8 -10 teams (3 students in a team) and they sit on the outer circle facing the center circle. On command, the 1st person from each team runs to the center and picks up a card. If the student picks up, say, "1 - 7 -15", he/she has to run to the wall where that number is on the bigger posterboard and tag that number...when all 3 numbers are touched, he/she returns card to center circle, lays it face down, and tags the next teammates hand who in turn repeats the procedure with a new card. When all the players from one team have had a turn...that team receives 1 point.
The teacher can decide how many points to go up to.
This is a great game for dodging, tracking, sequencing, and keeping movement flowing.
My student teacher at peterson School, Ms Erin Mecher, came up with this game and I was very impressed with it's production.
