ABOUT THE
GAME: I created this game to go
with our "Western Theme Day" at School;
the kids loved it! I did my best
"Texan" voice impersonation the
whole period, it was a riot!
HOW TO
PLAY: Divide the class into
Cowboys and Cowgirls. Send each group to an
opposing line on the floor. One
group at a time is saddled up on
horses (scooters). In the middle of
the floor I have a huge trash can
filled with different size Tumbleweeds
(balls). I dump the can and
send Tumbleweeds rolling all over the
gym. On my command, the
first group of Lil' Buckaroos ride out on
their horses and begin
shooting the Tumbleweeds back into the
corral (trash can). I start
my stopwatch. As soon as the last
Tumbleweed is thrown back
into the corral, the team jumps up off
their horses and calls out
"Yeeee Haw!" This is my
cue to check my watch and report back
to the kids on their time. By this
time, the next group of Lil'
Buckaroos are itching like a herd of young
jack rabbits to have
their turn on the range! It is fun
to see the kids better their times as
they work together to develop strategies.
