Activity Name: Macarena Tag
Grade Level: 5th and up
Equipment Needed:
cones to mark a safe playing area, CD player (or tape
player), the song 'Macarena', and 2-3 pinnies (for the 'Its' )
Description of Activity:
Have the students spread out on the playing area
with 2 or 3 students designated as being 'It'. On the teachers signal, the
students will begin to travel (in a specified mode--skipping, galloping,
hopping, etc.). The 'Its' will try and tag the other players; if a player
is tagged they cannot begin to play again until they have done a portion of
the Macarena dance.(The whole time that the Activity is being played the
song "Macarena" should be playing). After a while, the 'Its' should be changed
