Materials: 4 hula hoops, 20-30 bean bags
Warm Ups:
Introduction: Introduce the activity, discuss safety when moving within a group,
teamwork, sportsmanship
Activity: Place 1 hoop in each corner of your space.
Place the bean bags in the center of the space. Divide the class into 4 groups,
one group behind each hoop. The object of the activity is to get more bags than any
other group in the
allotted time. On the command go, everybody runs and gathers one bag and returns
it to their hoop.
They can only take one bag at a time, they can take it from the center, or from
other teams hoops. The
teacher stops the activity at an appropriate time, counts the bags in each hoop,
and declares a winning
team. All the others clap for the winners, the bags are returned to the center,
and the activity begins
again.
. Use different locomotor skills each time, running, walking, skipping, hopping,
jumping, leaping, galloping Ect. You can also use the crab walk, duck walk, frog
leap Ect.
Closure: Review the different ways of moving. Point out positive behavior, good
sportsmanship, other qualities you noticed during the activity. Discuss again the
importance
of listening and some skills you can use to become a better listener.
