TENNIS BALL
SCRAMBLE: Align the class on a long line such as the endline
under the basketball court. Give each child a tennis ball with a
number or letter. On a given signal have them toss the ball anywhere
past the midcourt line. Time the class how long it takes to retreive
the ball and return to start. repeat the process and try to better the
previous score. As an alternative arrange the class in small groups of
4-5 students. Make a letter or number list for each group that is
posted or a task sheet for each group. They throw the ball again but
this time they must get odds/evens ; addition problems or any number
desires. If there are letters have them spell words from their
classroom spelling list. Also , have them change the throwing
technique each time.
SURVIVOR
: Place objects and equipment throughout the gym floor
which will be called the ISLAND after the famous TV SHOW.
Arrange the class into groups to find their way across the
floor by being given certain modes of transporting . At no
time may any student touch the floor. Examples of
transportation are : |
|
|
• |
Tumbling
mats |
|
|

All
the other equipment on the floor are the rewards such as FOOD(beanbags)
, SHELTER(hockey net) or LIGHT( fire - relay batons). |
|
The
object is to get across the other side by taking the rewards
one at a time . They can go to the outside of the area and
start over . The group that has the most goods or the best
time will win. Anytime a student falls into the ocean(floor) ,
the whole group must perform a challenge from stations that
