Cross the River
best playedi n a gym or cafegymautorium like what
we have.
Divide the room in half down the middle.
Place cones or court tape on the ground signifying
the "shore"
Place more cones or tape on the ground signifying
the other shore Usually about 30 feet.
The space in the middle is the river.
The object of the game is for each team to get
across the river without falling in the river. Also you have to get all your
equipment across the river .If any part of the students body touches the space
between the cones they have to drop what equipment they have and return to the
starting shore.
Give each team 1 big exercise mat (the kind that
folds) GIve each team 2 scooters...a hockey stick....a rope and a ball.
They have to figure out how to use the equipment
to cross the river.
The fun part is once one or 2 get across they have
to send it back somehow..Many times they will get stuck and have to rescued by
another student on another piece of equipment.
Also it forces them to work together as a
group.......
You can add tasks too if you want to.......I
usually use a map of the US states where each state can be removed. They have
to complete the map before they can journey on the river.
Been doing it for a few years and I vary it here
and there but the kids love it.
